It is very nice to have the beach area right outside the hotel as we could enjoy it for a couple of hours each day so easily (we are not sun tanners so never spend more than a couple of hours on beach but you could easily spend all day on this beach if so inclined).Michigan has two types of casinos: Indian casinos, plus three state-sanctioned casinos in Detroit. Overall though, I'd say our stay met my expectations given the description and photos here. Also, it is their policy not to clean the room during your stay so we had to track down replacement towels and other amenities daily. The only drawbacks are the very dated, trending towards shabby, appearance and furnishings in the rooms (the hotel is in need of an update as others here have mentioned) and the inedible 'free' breakfast of packaged processed foods. The shuttle that will drive you to Front Street and other nearby locations was available when we needed it and the drivers were super helpful (especially with my elderly mother getting in and out). The room was quiet at night, the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, and the location is great for shops and restaurants. This was a mother-daughters trip and we had a very good time in a large room with two queen beds overlooking the beach. Taking a day trip couldn’t be easier as it is only a short drive to the area’s elegant wineries, exciting casinos and exceptional Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes.
